dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

Thank you for taking the time to read this. We hope you can feel the love and admiration we have for you, because you deserve it. You are preparing to make such a selfless decision. We cannot imagine the strength it takes to make such a compassionate choice. We know ours is not the only letter or profile you will read. Hopefully, each letter is telling you the same thing: You are loved. You are valuable. Your determination to place your child in a safe, loving home is courageous and kind.

You and your baby may have cultural beliefs and practices we are unfamiliar with. We are willing to take the time to educate ourselves and others so your child can grow up knowing their roots. Whether it’s learning how to do their hair or preparing them to address racial identity and discrimination, we promise to do our best.

If you choose us, know that your child will grow up in a safe and loving environment. They, like our daughter, will be free to be silly and wild without fear of judgment. They will be loved and never have to question that for a second. And they will know about you if that’s what you want. Your child will always know they were loved from the second they began growing in your womb. Your child will learn of the sacrifice their mom made and how magnificent she is.

With love,
Matthew and Ashten

About Us

Hello! We are Matthew and Ashten. We fell in love after working together at a summer camp in 2017. Matthew proposed after dropping many not-so-subtle hints, including “This will be the day that lives in infamy.” No, this was not from the famous speech coined by Roosevelt, just Michael Scott, world’s best boss. Ashten is a nurse practitioner. She enjoys tending to her house plants and listening to podcasts and audiobooks. Matthew loves his job as a high school math teacher and cross country coach. He also loves his role as a youth director at our church. We both love spending time with each other and our four-year-old daughter. Every Saturday morning, we visit the local shops in our small town and visit with the people in our community.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a four-bedroom, three-bath home with a finished basement, on a quiet street on the outskirts of our small town. Our 13-year-old chihuahua, Stormy, is very cuddly and surprisingly spritely for his age. We adopted our husky mix named Millie from the animal shelter almost six years ago. She shivers in 50-degree weather but will lay in the snow for ages. Most recently, we adopted a black cat from the humane society. Our daughter named her Diddums from the children’s show, Bluey. We live about 35 minutes from a large city in Kentucky, but we have all we need in our town, including lots of small businesses and a large park.

Our Extended Family

Ashten has five siblings, five nieces, and one nephew. We live about two hours from Ashten’s hometown, but that does not stop us from spending plenty of time with her side of the family. We are very close with Ashten’s mom and dad. Our daughter considers her six cousins her best friends. Matthew has one sister and two sets of aunts and uncles. We live within minutes of Matthew’s parents and extended family, so we never lack any family time!

Family traditions we enjoy include Christmas brunch, pumpkin carving, and egg decorating. When we get together for holidays, we always end up having so much fun playing games as a family. Matthew grew up going to Disney World each year with his family. These days we don’t get there quite as often, but we still love going any chance we get!

What Led Us To Adoption

We got pregnant unexpectedly one month after getting married. After two years with our sweet girl, we decided it was time to try for another. Our first miscarriage came within weeks of learning of our second pregnancy. Then, after a year of trying, we got pregnant again. We were over the moon with excitement. Ashten carried this baby for about 12 weeks, but we were devastated when we learned the baby had stopped growing several weeks prior. Ashten got pregnant three times in 2024, all ending in miscarriage and D&C. We had always considered fostering and/or adoption. The fourth miscarriage felt like a sign that adoption was always meant to be.

Choose a Family for
Your Baby With Confidence

As you browse our list of hopeful adoptive parents, you can feel confident in knowing that all of the adoptive families working with Angel Adoption are prepared to offer your baby a safe, stable, and loving environment along with a wealth of opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.

Each adoptive parent has been thoroughly evaluated through a home study course conducted by a licensed agency. A completed home study means the family is emotionally, physically, and financially ready to adopt a baby.

The home study process includes assessments of each parent’s character, marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. The agency also runs background checks to verify there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. In addition, a social worker will inspect the family’s home to ensure it is a safe environment for a child.

Furthermore, Angel Adoption requires each family to be educated on adopting and parenting. After a baby has been placed with the adoptive family, a social worker will continue to monitor and supervise the family. We go to great lengths to make sure all the families you have to choose from are going to be excellent parents for your baby!
