dear expectant mother
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our profile and learn more about us. We are truly excited about the opportunity to grow our family through adoption. Becoming parents has been a dream of ours for many years. Although life’s circumstances have not allowed that to happen biologically, we trust that God’s plan is greater and that adoption is the path meant for us. We believe this journey will bring incredible love, growth, and purpose, and we are ready to open our hearts and home to a child.
We have been blessed to be an aunt and uncle to five nephews and two nieces. Watching them grow, celebrating their milestones, and being part of their lives has been one of our greatest joys. These experiences have taught us so much about patience, encouragement, and unconditional love, and have strengthened our desire to become parents. We look forward to sharing those same moments—big and small—with a child of our own and guiding them through life’s many adventures.
Welcoming your child into our family would be one of the greatest honors of our lives. They would be surrounded by love, laughter, and stability—not only from us but from our close, supportive extended family. We are committed to providing a home filled with faith, kindness, and encouragement where they feel safe, valued, and free to be themselves. We deeply admire your courage, strength, and love in making such a selfless decision, and we will forever honor and cherish that choice.
Our Love Story
We met in 2003 when Christen came to Charleston, SC, to serve as a youth intern. BJ attended a Wednesday night event at the church where Christen was working to see a friend’s band play, and that’s where our story began. Over the next week, we spent nearly every day together—attending college nights at local churches, going to a high school football game, bowling with friends, and taking long walks on the beach. It didn’t take long for us to realize there was something special between us, and just six days after meeting, we made our relationship official.
We dated for three years before getting engaged and were married in January 2008. After spending our early married years in Charleston, we moved to Cleveland in 2012 to be closer to Christen’s family. Seven years later, we fulfilled a dream by building our forever home in 2019.
Our Home & Neighborhood
Our home, built in 2019, is truly a labor of love. We worked on much of it ourselves, with generous help from both of our families. It’s located in a wonderful neighborhood with beautiful mountain views, excellent schools, nearby parks, and convenient shopping. The area has a warm, welcoming feel that we really enjoy. We share our home with our sweet cat, Ruby, who loves people and can often be found curled up in our laps while we relax on the couch.
Our Family & Friends
We both come from very loving and supportive families. BJ is an only child but has a close extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Growing up, his five cousins were more like brothers, spending holidays and weekends together. He remains close to his parents, and even though we don’t live nearby, we make it a priority to visit several times a year—either traveling to Charleston or having them visit us in Tennessee.
Christen is the youngest of three and lives just a few miles from her entire family. We spend time with them often, whether it’s Sunday lunch after church, summer days on the boat, or cheering on our niece and nephew at local high school games.
Both sides of our family are loving, supportive, and excited to welcome another child to share in our family traditions, holidays, and cherished memories.
Our Favorite Adventures
Throughout our relationship, we’ve shared many adventures—from ski trips with our church’s youth group to family beach vacations, our honeymoon in Colorado, and cheering at Clemson football games. Each trip gave us time to explore new places, make memories, and enjoy a break from everyday life.
One of our favorite adventures was our honeymoon to Manitou Springs, Colorado, where we visited Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. The best part, though, was simply experiencing it all together.
Another special trip was in 2020, when COVID changed our plans from Las Vegas to Orange Beach. We spent a week with Christen’s family relaxing by the ocean, cooking together, and playing games late into the night—creating memories we’ll always cherish.

Choose a Family for
Your Baby With Confidence
As you browse our list of hopeful adoptive parents, you can feel confident in knowing that all of the adoptive families working with Angel Adoption are prepared to offer your baby a safe, stable, and loving environment along with a wealth of opportunities for a happy and fulfilling life.
Each adoptive parent has been thoroughly evaluated through a home study course conducted by a licensed agency. A completed home study means the family is emotionally, physically, and financially ready to adopt a baby.
The home study process includes assessments of each parent’s character, marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. The agency also runs background checks to verify there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. In addition, a social worker will inspect the family’s home to ensure it is a safe environment for a child.
Furthermore, Angel Adoption requires each family to be educated on adopting and parenting. After a baby has been placed with the adoptive family, a social worker will continue to monitor and supervise the family. We go to great lengths to make sure all the families you have to choose from are going to be excellent parents for your baby!
